ECONET LESOTHO HOLDS GALA DINNER

Maseru, Feb. 24 — Econet Telecom Lesotho through the HigherLife Foundation held its annual Golf Club day gala dinner in Maseru on Friday night.

Over M330,000 was reported to have been collected from different stakeholders whereby some pledged support in terms of food and beverages for a year’s period. 

Speaking at this event on behalf of Econet, Mr. Lebohang Ramaisa said that the purpose of this event is to bring in different stakeholders as to give them an opportunity to pledge their support towards the growth of HigherLife foundation.

He stated that since its formation, HigherLife foundation has assiateda number of students to further their studies from high school level into tertiary institutions.

He stated that a number of them have been given opportunities to study in institutions such as the National University of Lesotho, Ford Hare University as well as Stanford university.

The minister of Education and Training Professor Ntoi Rapapa applauded the telecommunications company saying that their support to the government of Lesotho especially in the education sector is highly recognised.

He said that it is through such initiatives that the government through the National Manpower Development Secretariat (NMDS) can be able to reach out to more students in need of the scholarships.

Meanwhile, Mr. Lehlohonolo Khali as one of the beneficiaries said that life for him has been very hopeful since he acquired the sponsorship as all he has to worry about now is his studies as all his needs are catered for through HigherLife foundation.

Present to grace this event was Queen ‘Masenate Seeiso whereby her ‘Hlokomela Banana’ program pledged to offer a full year sponsorship for 10 girls across the country coming from each district.
