Qacha’s Nek, Aug. 21 — District Administrator (DA) Habofanoe Pheku has sounded the alarm, calling on Melele to protect their natural resources amid an escalating wave of wildfires ravaging the district.
Speaking at an agricultural dialogue hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Nutrition (MAFSN) on Wednesday, Pheku highlighted the dire situation: “Qacha’s Nek is burning day and night. Even as I speak, a wildfire is raging.”
He questioned, “Where will we find these agricultural products exhibited if this continues?”
Pheku urged the community to heed the environmental protection education efforts led by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (MEF) and called for the arrest of those responsible for setting fires, emphasizing the need to safeguard the district.
