Quthing, August 19 – – In an effort to get Quthing district status of foot and mouth disease (FMD), the Livestock Division of the Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition is currently engaged in surveillance on livestock diseases.
The FMD is a highly contagious viral disease of livestock that has a significant economic impact.
The disease affects cattle, sheep, goats and other cloven-hoofed ruminants.
The surveillance that has started at Qomoqomong in Central Agricultural Resource Centre from Monday this week , will generate data to help animal health officers understand current threats, and form preventive measures.
