SADC DEPLOYS ELECTORAL OBSERVER MISSION TO MALAWI

Maseru, Sept. 09 — Following deployment of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Electoral Observer Mission headed by former Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini Mr. Themba Masuku to the 2025 General Election in the Republic of Malawi, the Mission has arrived in Lilongwe on Monday ahead of the official launch and deployment of SADC Election Observers on Wednesday.

The SADC Electoral Observer Mission is mandated to observe Malawi’s upcoming general elections (presidential, parliamentary and local government Elections) scheduled for September 16. 

The Incoming Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, King Mswati III of the Kingdom of Eswatini, appointed Mr. Masuku, former Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini as the Head of Mission. 

The Head of Mission was welcomed on arrival in Lilongwe by the SADC Secretariat led by the Director of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Affairs, Professor Kula Ishamel Theletsane.
