SARCOF-31 UNDERWAY IN ZAMBIA

Maseru, Sept. 09 — The 31st Southern Africa Climate Outlook Forum (SARCOF-31) is taking place from September 08 to 11 in Lusaka, Zambia aiming to strengthen regional collaboration on disaster preparedness and improve management of weather and climate related risks.

The forum is attended by Southern African Development Community (SADC) Member States including a delegation from Lesotho.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Douty Chibamba, Permanent Secretary for Zambia’s Ministry of Green Economy and Environment, said the forum emphasises the importance of climate services for protecting lives, livelihoods, and sustainable development across the SADC region.

Under the theme “𝐴𝑡 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐹𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝐶𝑙𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝐴𝑐𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑇𝑜𝑤𝑎𝑟𝑑𝑠 𝐼𝑚𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑑 𝐶𝑙𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑒 𝑆𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑖𝑐𝑒𝑠 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝐴𝐷𝐶 𝑅𝑒𝑔𝑖𝑜𝑛,” SARCOF-31 addresses the growing impacts of climate change on farmers, urban populations, businesses, and households.
