SCHOOL MEALS CAN CHANGE THE WORLD – MOYO

Maseru, Apr. 17 — World Vision Chief of Party (DRC) Ms. Khangezani Moyo says school meals can change the world.

This she said during the 43rd session of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC), themed “Education for all children in Africa, the time is now!” held in Maseru.

She said that meals should be provided in schools saying that no child should be able to learn when hungry. She added that hunger and malnutrition impact badly on children’s education.

She said that about 148 million children globally are affected by stunting and 30 percent of those are in Africa.

She explained that World Vision International has been implementing a global hunger response since 2021, targeting 16 countries in Africa. She mentioned that the organization also launched a global #ENOUGH campaign in February 2024 aimed at reducing child hunger and malnutrition.
