SECURITY FORCE’S STATEMENT THREATENS DEMOCRATIC ETHOS, PRINCIPLES

Maseru, Oct. 18 — The Lesotho Non-Governmental Organisations (LCN) says the statement made by the head of security forces threatens the democratic ethos and principles the security agencies purport to protect.

On its Press Statement issued on Wednesday, LCN acknowledges that while the action of the Members of the Parliament (MP’S) who support the motion of no confidence may be irritating to some people who strongly believe that doing so is a misuse of representative democracy, it is no business of security agencies to determine how the Parliament should transact its business.

LCN states that it confirms that in the act of MP’s there is no imminent harm, disorder or anything that threatens the security of the country, if there be any criminality, Police would have through its constitutional obligation invest and arrest under several legislations including the Internal Security Act.
