Maseru, Nov. 21 — In a significant effort to inspire and nurture young leaders, the House of Senate today welcomed its newly elected Little President, Little Clerk, and Little Deputy Clerk. This initiative aims to introduce youth to governance and leadership roles, fostering early interest in national and professional responsibilities.
The Little President, Keitumetse Majota, a student from Bohlokoa Junior Academy, expressed her gratitude during her inaugural speech. “I feel so privileged to have been elected the Little President of the Senate. This is a remarkable opportunity to gain exposure and experience,” she said.
She pledged to work in the public’s best interest during her 2024/25 tenure, noting the importance of unity among Senators, especially as Lesotho navigates a pivotal time in its national reforms. “This is a pressing time for our country, and it requires oneness to achieve meaningful progress,” she added.
During the proceedings, Senators praised the initiative, which was organised in collaboration with Harvest FM, highlighting its potential to shape future leaders.
