Maseru, Oct. 31 — In a strong statement today, Senator Mawinnie Kanetsi has condemned the recent attack on tourists in the Moteng area of Botha-Bothe.
The attack, reportedly carried out by a group of boys, has raised concerns about the safety of visitors in the country and its impact on Lesotho’s tourism sector.
Senator Kanetsi emphasised that such incidents should never happen and urged the need for increased awareness among local leaders, particularly headboys, on the importance of treating tourists with respect.
“These kinds of attacks reflect poorly on our tourism sector and have a direct negative effect on the economy,” she said. Senator Kanetsi called on all relevant stakeholders to take this matter seriously to prevent future occurrences.
