SRHR NEEDS FOR MEN, BOYS TO BE EXPANDED – PARTNERS

Maseru,  Sept. 28 — The improvement of health care facilities that accommodate and cater for men and adolescent boys remains the biggest challenge that Lesotho still needs to address as to allow for the aforementioned group to acquire knowledge on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) education.

At this summit, some of the barriers to men and adolescent boys accessing services include resisting to go to health care facilities by men due to female health care workers and also long queues which are normally experienced at the health care services.

Speaking at the closing session of the three days summit which was hosted by UNICEF, Mr. Molefi Mofolo of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) said that part of the initiatives that Lesotho has embarked on to fill this gap include providing dedicated clinic areas for men in spaces where they fell more comfortable at the time convenient for them.
