Mohale’s Hoek, June, 07– Development For Peace’s Community Animator Mrs. ‘Mants’abeng Tsuhlane, has confirmed that houses belonging to about 4 families at Topa Ha Mokoining and Koebunyane have been destroyed by strong storms.
Mrs. Tsuhlane stated this in an interview with the Agency, by noting that among those that are destroyed, are 2 houses belonging to an elderly man Qamo Mokoinihi who is living with his children and grandchildren, and has asked to be assisted with a tent just to cover the roof top.
However, the Agency’s efforts to get hold of Chief of the aforementioned villages Mr. Mahao Lehloenya, were fruitless.
In March and December 2023, about 7 villages were terribly affected by strong winds and hail which destroyed about 20 houses and left electricity poles down.
Meanwhile, the situation has been reported to the District Administrator’s office.
