UNAVAILABILITY OF LAWYER CAUSES DELAY

Maseru, Aug.06— A case in which five members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) are accused of murder of three men which occurred at Mafeteng in 2012, which was scheduled for hearing from yesterday has failed to proceed as one of the defence lawyers Advocate Zwelakhe Mda could not be available due to his ill health.

The court is expected to continue with a trial within trial which was earlier put on hold after Major General Ramanka Mokaloba whose evidence was challenged, had to leave the country on an official trip. The admissibility of the evidence was challenged by the defence who questioned the voluntariness of the statement which the witness said it was made by one of the accused.

In January this year, the court granted bail to Khauhelo Makoa, Sebilo Sebilo, Tsepo Tlhakeli and Thebe Tsepe who are some of the accused in this case. They had applied for bail for the second time before the same court after the previous one was denied in December last year…
