UNLOCKING AfCFTA OPPORTUNITIES: LESOTHO’S FARMERS,ENTREPRENEURS SET TO THRIVE

Qacha’s Nek, Aug. 20 — The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Business Development (MTIBD), together with the Lesotho National Farmers Union (LENAFU), will host an information session on the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) from August 21 to 22.

This event comes in the wake of the agreement’s ratification in 2021.

AfCFTA is a high-ambition trade agreement with a comprehensive scope, including tariff liberalization and the recognition of women and youth in trade and industrial development—one of the flagship projects of Agenda 2063: “The Africa We Want.”

On Tuesday, MTIBD Senior Trade Officer Mrs. Angela Rapotso shared with the Agency that the session is aimed at smallholder farmers in the horticulture sector and entrepreneurs involved in agro-processing industries.
