VULNERABILITY COSTS CHILDREN EDUCATION

Qacha’s Nek, Aug.03 — Despite free primary education being free, Waterfall LECSA Primary School Principal Mrs. ‘Matebello Tabola says vulnerability is a common phenomenon that leads to children dropping out of school.

Speaking with the Agency, she said following winter recess on Tuesday, 154 children of the 170 showed up.

“It is worrying as every year we lose children and the main contributing factor is poverty as most of our learners are vulnerable while others are orphans,” she said.

She said things were a little better when the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) gave them subvention which they last got around 2019. . .
