Qacha’s Nek, Sept. 16 — Tuesday marked the second day of a four-day cascade training on good governance for 26 youth representatives at FTC Hall, Qacha’s Nek.
The training running from Monday to Thursday is a key component of the Youth Power Hub (YPH) project, implemented by Development for Peace Education (DPE), Skillshare and Democracy Works Foundation with support from the European Union (EU), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Although the initiative spans all ten districts of Lesotho, DPE is concentrating its efforts in Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek, Quthing, and Qacha’s Nek.
Speaking to the Agency, DPE Peace Education Researcher, Melida Bohloko explained that the YPH initiative began as UNICEF’s call for youth associations to apply for incubation. In Qacha’s Nek, she said only two associations succeeded, Internet Society Lesotho and Youth Connect Lesotho but other groups were also invited to the training so they could benefit from the capacity-building process.
