WANG ERXIAO HISTORY RELIVED

Maseru, Aug.24–Over 80 years and the history of Wang Erxiao the young hero of the anti Japanese war is revisited.

The 13 year old Wang Erxiao back then bravely lured the enemy into an ambush and gave up his life to protect his village.

The song, “Sing of the Cowherd Boy – Erxiao” created by composer Li Jiefu and Poet Fang Bing is still spreading from the Jin-Cha-Ji border region to across China in remembrance of this young hero.

The ballad carries a heroic message when the nation faced peril, 400 million Chinese young and old alike stood as a living Great Wall.

Xi Yumei villager at Shangzhuang village said when she hears the melody of the song, she remembers the young Wang Erxiao who sacrificed his precious life to protect the people and cover their anti Japanese fighters. 

She said although Wang Erxiao was only a teenager, his courage and determination were admirable. In the face of all kinds of danger and difficulties, he could always keep calm and face the enemy bravely. 

Deputy Principal at Beijing Haidin Foreign Language Shi Yan School Kindergarten Ms. Lu Na said they are revisiting the history of Wang Erxiao through school textbooks, “A cross time mission”. She said the story of Erxiao is already widely known but they have to let their children know about their heroes so that they have confidence and determination to build their country well.

“We want Erxiao and all martyrs who gave up their lives for us know that we will live up to their expectations,” she said.

Wang Erxiao was one of the children corps who played a huge role in the anti Japanese war. During the war of resistance anti Japanese  base areas behind enemy lines led by the Communist Party of China widely established the Children corps with children aged between seven (7) and 15.
