Qacha’s Nek, Feb. 05 — A 17 year-old herdboy of ‘Melikane, Ha Rasekoele is in police custody after allegedly raping his mentally handicapped grandmother aged 79.
The boy was arrested on Tuesday and is awaiting his appearance in Qacha’sNek Magistrate Court.
In an interview with the Agency on Wednesday, Sergeant Pheello Tebejane of the Qacha’s Nek Child and Gender Protection Unit (CGPU) revealed that the incident occurred on Monday morning between 9 and 10 am.
“It is reported that the victim was on her way home after visiting her brother in the same village, when the suspect, who was herding donkeys attacked and raped her,” Sergeant Tebejane said.
