YOUNG FARMERS’ RESILIENCE INSPIRES LENAFU TO DONATE SHADE NETS IN QACHA’S NEK

Qacha’s Nek, Aug. 29 — The Lesotho National Farmers Union (LENAFU) supported by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), donated five shade nets to five deserving farmers during the Food Month celebration in Tsoelike, Ha Matlali.

This unexpected act of generosity was sparked by the remarkable resilience of a young couple Mrs. ‘Mabokang and Mr. Kabelo Masupha who impressed the LENAFU team with their innovative farming practices.

Mrs. ‘Mathabo Tsepa, President of LENAFU and Chairperson of the Qacha’s Nek Farmers Association, explained that the gifts were inspired by a household visit prior to the event.

“This young couple did not wait for handouts, they took the initiative by recycling pipes to create their own shade net. As African Women’s Month comes to a close, we want to encourage and celebrate farmers who embody such determination,” she said.
