Botha-Bothe, Aug. 19 — Youth-led organisations in Botha-Bothe are undergoing training this week on financial and accountability reporting before receiving funding to implement community-based projects.
Speaking to the Lesotho News Agency, Mr. Mabaruti Motsamai, UNICEF Social Policy Officer and Project Officer for the Youth Power Hub, said the training aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in key areas such as governance, financial management, resource mobilisation, advocacy, and accountability.
“We have identified gaps in knowledge among youth-led organisations, and we want to capacitate them before providing funding for projects that will be researched and implemented in their communities. We are looking for innovative, youth-oriented initiatives,” he explained.
Mr. Motsamai further noted that the initiative has a budget of M47 million and will run until 2029. “We want to ensure that once they receive the funds, these organisations will be able to report back, manage resources responsibly, and sustain their projects,” he said…MM/BM
