DEFENCE ACCUSES WITNESS OF BEING EVASIVE

Maseru, Jun.17 — The defence in an ongoing murder trial against army members who are charged with the murder of Maaparankoe Mahao, through Advocate Napo Mafaesa has accused Mr. Mabilikoe Leuta Mahao of being evasive.

The accusation came during cross-examination of Mr. Mahao who is currently on the stand as one of the state witnesses in this matter.

Adv. Mafaesa told the witness that he deliberately avoids to answer questions because he came to court to give a rehearsed narrative.

He added that the witness is not prepared to answer anything outside what he rehearsed. He further added that his conduct during cross-examination is different from when he was giving evidence in chief. . . .
