Maseru, Nov. 09 — The Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development in collaboration with Care facilities and the media joined the rest of the world to commemorate adoption day at the event held in Maseru on Thursday.
The event, whose theme was “celebrating family awareness for adoption” was intended to create awareness through the media about the importance of child adoption and celebrate families which adopted children thereby giving them an opportunity to live in stable families.
Speaking at the event, the Director Child Protection Services Mrs. Mookho Motheo said every child needs to stay in a stable family thus caretakers who ensure that children access this right through adoption need counselling after the child is adopted as they raised them and had a special relationship with them.
