CHAIRPERSONS RAISE CONCERNS OVER TRANSPARENCY IN BAP YLE

Maseru, Apr. 15 — In preparations for the upcoming Basotho Action Party (BAP) Youth League Elections(YLE), concerns have been raised by several Chairpersons from various constituencies regarding the transparency of the elections.

Letters addressed to the BAP Secretary General (SG) by Chairpersons from constituencies such as Pitseng, Mokhotlong, Thaba-Tseka, Mekaling, Taung, Phamong, Mpharane, and Mohale’s Hoek express doubts about the integrity of the elections amidst the ongoing preparations.

Keneuoe Tséleli confirmed the existence of these concerns but stated that the matter is currently being handled internally, with updates to follow.

In an interview, Keneuoe Tséleli from Pitseng mentioned that BAP, through the SG’s office, convened a meeting with candidates and interim youth league committees to discuss election matters. Key issues discussed included the necessity for an environment conducive to honest, free, and fair elections without hindrance to any participant.
