Maseru, July 19 — The National Children’s Parliament has said access to quality education in rural areas is still in a compromised state, therefore urgent actions are needed for the improvement of children’s lives and their wellbeing.
The National Children’s Parliament 2024 staged at Thaba-bosiu Cultural Village resumed its session on Friday under a theme, “Education for all, challenges facing wellbeing and development of children in Lesotho”.
The government came under fire from the opposition side as the children’s parliament was discussing the motion which highlighted, “Institutional environment affecting quality education and wellbeing of children in Lesotho”.
Despite the Minister of Education’s address role played by Mr. Kutloano Mohlaba where he highlighted that their ministry collaborated with Ministry of Social Development to deliver much needed aid to vulnerable children as the way of reducing events of struggling families and also to ensure that students do not drop out of schools due to lack of fees, uniforms and teaching aids.
