COURT NOT COMPETENT TO HEAR CASE- LAWYER

Maseru, Aug. 18 — Legal Representative for the respondents in a constitutional case challenging the recall of Parliament to discuss the 11th Amendment to the Constitution Bill of 2022, Advocate Thomas Thakalekoala says the High Court sitting as the Constitutional Court is not competent to hear the matter.

When arguing jurisdiction in this matter, he stated that practice in Lesotho does not allow the court to intervene at this stage of the case.

He said it is premature for the court to intervene because the Parliament has not yet discussed the subject under attack.
