ENOUGH IS ENOUGH – COMMUNITY

Maseru, Apr. 20 — Roma community is saying enough is enough.

This surfaced at a public gathering of all villages under the chieftainship of Roma Area Chief Makhabane Seeiso Maama held at Ha Mafefooane on Saturday.

The community has resolved to have a demonstration from Mahlanyeng to the National University of Lesotho (NUL) main gate on Tuesday next week where they will hand over their petition to the National University of Lesotho (NUL) management.

They have said that it is time that they fight fire with fire thus reiterating whenever students protest and vandalize property saying that it is only them that can protect their community and property.

They said that the only way to bring the students under control is to beat or fight them.

The demonstration will include taxi operators, business community, landlords and community at large.

The villages are Maphotong, Ha Tsunyane, Mafikeng, Hata-Butle, Thoteng, Liphakoeng, Tloutle, Mahlanyeng and it also includes Mokhokhong, Lebamang and Nyakosoba as they also get services at Roma.

Meanwhile, on April 08 NUL students held a  protest in which among others they complained of unavailability of student cards. They also wanted clarity on withdrawals from post graduate students’ stipends.

It is during the protest that they burned tyres on the roads blocking traffic and they further vandalized property which included one of the big retail shops at Roma.
