HA LEBESA MAN CHARGED FOR STABBING WOMAN WITH A KNIFE

Botha-Bothe, Oct. 16 — A 28-year-old man from Ha Lebesa, Ts’epang Keresiane, has appeared before the Botha-Bothe Magistrate Court charged with assault after allegedly stabbing a woman with a knife.

According to court records, Keresiane is charged with contravening Section 31(1) read with Section 109 of the Penal Code Act No. 6 of 2010 (2012), which deals with aggravated assault causing grievous bodily harm.

The charge stems from an incident that occurred on October 11, 2025, at Ha Lebesa, where Keresiane is alleged to have stabbed Nthofela Lechesa on the head and chest during a confrontation. The victim reportedly sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Seboche Hospital, where she is currently receiving medical treatment.

During his court appearance before Magistrate Mamosebatho Kantoro, Keresiane was informed of the charges and advised of his right to legal representation. The prosecution objected to his release on bail, citing the seriousness of the offence and the need to protect the victim while investigations continue.. . .
