I AM SMILING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK – MAHETLANE

Mohale’s Hoek, April. 14 — Following the graduation ceremony held by Ntlafatso Skills Training Centre on Thursday, one of the former graduates informed the Agency that after acquiring skills from the institution he has been smiling all the way to the bank.

Mr. Mahetlane Mahetlane from Ha- Maphohloane who did a certificate in Panel Beating and Spray Painting graduated in 2010.

Mr. Mahetlane says he could not find a job immediately upon his graduatiion, hence he started volunteering in other workshops with the purpose of gaining experience and nurturing his skills extensively.

He noted that in the same year, his mother who was working as a domestic worker in Maseru came to his rescue by requesting her employees to buy him a compressor spraying machine, and that was how his business was established.

Mr. Mahetlane who is a grade 10 (Form C) certificate holder further articulated that he is delighted to have been part of that Institution because currently he has employed two people and has managed to take his niece to secondary school.

He wrapped up by pleading with those who have graduated to not be ashamed of engaging in volunteer jobs to acquire enough experience, and that they do not forget what they have been taught at the Institution.

Ntlafatso Skills Training Centre was established in 1990 by the government of the Republic of South Africa with the purpose of equipping miners who were retrenched from its mines, but after running it for two years it was handed over to the government of Lesotho, which then opened doors to primary certificates holders.
