INDIA STRENGTHENS AFRICA TIES THROUGH MEDIA TRAINING

Kolkata, Oct. 8 — In a bid to boost Africa–India media collaboration, communications and media practitioners from 11 African countries have converged in Kolkata, India, for a three-week intensive training on Producing Broadcast News for Development Communication.

The training, hosted by the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), aims to sharpen professional skills, enhance storytelling techniques and promote cross-cultural exchange in development-focused journalism.

In his opening remarks, Professor Samiran Datta, Vice Chancellor of SRFTI, said the programme is designed to equip participants with modern production skills, including television news production, digital content creation and media management.

He noted that the initiative forms part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme under the Government of India, reflecting India’s commitment to supporting professional growth and development communication in partner nations. . . .
