LESOTHO COMMEMORATES INTERNATIONAL E-WASTE DAY

Maseru, Oct. 13 — The government of Lesotho through the Department of Environment on Friday commemorated International E-Waste Day through aerobics marathon at an event held at Makoanyane Square in Maseru.

The day is annually commemorated on October 14 under different themes and this year’s theme aims to shed light on invisible electronic waste.

The commemoration also runs under the slogan ‘You can recycle anything with a plug, battery or cable!’ highlighting the issue of invisible e-waste, the electronic items that often go unrecognized and are not properly recycled within the appropriate waste stream. While e-waste is often associated with discarded gadgets and devices, a significant amount of electronic waste remains hidden in plain sight.
