LESOTHO, SOUTH AFRICA CONDUCT JOINT STUDY ON CROSS-BORDER MOVEMENT

Qacha’s Nek, May.27 — A Joint Task Team (JTT) made up of Lesotho and South Africa Home Affairs officials has held a two-day consultation in Qacha’s Nek to gather local input for a study on the movement of people, goods, and services between the two countries.

The team engaged with border officials, community leaders, runners, and travelers, and visited both official and unofficial crossing points to better understand the challenges and realities on the ground.

The study, funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will inform future recommendations aimed at improving cross-border governance and processes.

The initiative comes in the wake of the 2nd Session of the Bi-National Commission (BNC) held in April 2025 in Maseru, which elevated bilateral cooperation to a Head-of-State level. . .
