LMPS TO LAUNCH ATHLETICS CLUB

Leribe, May 28 — Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) Leribe will on Saturday this week, May 30 officially launch the Athletics Club at LMPS Football Ground Hlotse in Leribe.

In an interview with the Agency on Thursday, the organiser Lance Sergeant Makhabane Tita said the purpose of the launch is to revive LMPS members into maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

He said a healthy lifestyle is maintained by engaging in sports activities to help one to be mentally fit for daily work.

Tita said this comes after LMPS Management learned that many members are admitted in hospitals in high numbers, caused by lack of exercise.

“LMPS members need to stay active in conducting their work,” he stated.

He indicated that the event will start by members engaging five and 10 kilometres race, which will be around town while the 21 kilometres race will be from Hlotse to Maryland.

Moreover, he said the winners will be awarded prizes in their categories of first, Second and third.

Expected are LMPS Management and representatives of companies supporting the event.
