Maseru, Apr. 16 — In an effort to prevent garbage disposal all over the place, Maseru City Council (MCC) in collaboration with the Police will conduct an exercise through public gatherings in villages at dates yet to be identified.
This was revealed by MCC Senior Health Inspector, Mr. Thabo Mothebe during Operation Hloekisa Lesotho Committee meeting held in Maseru on Tuesday, with the objective to reflect on the successes and challenges faced during the last cleaning campaign held in the district last Friday as well as mapping the way forward.
Mr. Mothebe said the exercise is triggered by realisation that the cleaning campaign does not serve a purpose as the public continue to dump garbage all over the place within villages.
He indicated that during the exercise, they will work cooperatively with Chiefs and community leaders to identify community contracting freelancers as they have learnt that some of them do not dump garbage at Ha Ts’osane but at unlawful places.
