The Lesotho long-distance runners, Tebello Ramakongoana in the
men’s category and Mokulubete Makatisi in the women’s category, are
poised to compete in their inaugural Olympic marathons next weekend,
with Ramakongoana racing on Saturday and Makatisi on Sunday.
Ramakongoana’s race is scheduled for August 10, 2024, at 8 AM, where
he will contend with some of the world’s elite marathoners, including
Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge. The race will start and finish at Invalides Hotel
de Ville.
Speaking to the media this Monday, Ramakongoana’s personal coach,
Mr. James McKirdy, emphasized the difficulty of the upcoming race,
citing the rough and steep course. McKirdy noted that despite the
challenging terrain, Ramakongoana is well-prepared, having trained on
similar courses in his mountainous hometown, where he set national
records in the 5km, 12km, and 21.1km distances.
