MINISTRIES URGED TO ENSURE E-SERVICES IMPLEMENTATION 

Maseru, May 26 — The e-Government Project Coordinator under the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) Mr. Kori Lenyatsa is adamant in solidarity with line Ministries, implementation of e-services will come to pass. 

The Project Coordinator said this in an interview with the Agency on Monday morning following an e-services validation exercise which saw the presence of various government ministries last week. 

Going forward, the Project Coordinator said the previous exercise reflected a mirror of how far ministries can go in terms of digitising government services to be able to serve citizens amicably.

Therefore, he noted that the government through the Ministry of Information is in the process of deploying e-services in selected ministries that include Public Works, Agriculture, Finance and Development Planning and Public Service amongst others. 

Through this initiative, he alluded that services will reach out and be accessible to the society at any given time so that Lesotho is seen also to be moving forward like the rest of the world. 

“Through our collaborations as ministries, it is imperative that we take this process one step at the time, remembering that it is an evolving journey till we get to the back end system,” he said. 

Meanwhile, with the proposed allocation of M386,4 million that has been allocated to ICT sector, the Ministry has vowed to recommit to advancing  digital transformation and expand access to modern technological services.

The Ministry of Information has a role and responsibility to ensure promotion of technological services as part of implementing government services.
