Mohale’s Hoek, July 19 — The District Youth Development Officer from the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development Mrs. ‘Mampho Makharilele has on Friday confirmed that the Ministry held a 5 day Training of Trainers at the DIFA stadium.
Mrs. Makharilele articulated that they have trained those who are still in schools as well as those who are not attending schools on issues that include public speaking, decision making, business planning, entrepreneurship and civic engagement, citing youth lack patriotism, therefore they should be taught to take part in everything that involves the country, from politics to the roles of parliament.
She concluded by noting that in the current manual, the Ministry has included digital literacy, so that the youth could be advised on proper ways of using mobile phones, without putting their lives in danger.
On the other hand a 20 year old Nthabiseng Mosenoli from Qalakheng stated that she has learned a lot from the training, especially on an issue of decision making, noting some of her age mates are in a predicament because of the bad choices they made.
The training was attended by about 26 youth from 5 high schools in the District.
