MIXED FEELINGS ON COURT JUDGEMENT

Maseru, June 16 — Following the Court of Appeal’s ruling to dismiss the appeal against the 9th amendment to the constitution, different sectors of the public have expressed different views on the matter.

The Amendment was refraining the Prime Minister to advise the King to dissolve Parliament whenever there was motion of no confidence passed against him.

But on Friday, the Court of Appeal dismissed this saying that it was unconstitutional.

In an interview one Mr. Francis Ts’ehlo said that the Amendment undermined the principles of democracy enshrined in the constitution saying that the King’s role and powers as the Head of State in a democratic kingdom is of great importance.
