PASSENGERS URGED TO USE BUS STOPS

Maseru, June 16 — Maseru Region Transport Operators (MRTO) Public Relations Officer, Mr. Lebohang Moea has strongly appealed to passengers to board taxis at bus stops for their own safety.

This, he said in an interview with the Agency , following reports that one of the passengers was raped by a 4+1 taxi driver a few days ago.

Mr. Moea said there are Queue Marshals commonly known as inspectors at bus stops who know taxi drivers, have registration numbers of each taxi or 4+1 and have a record of  when and where a taxi ferries passengers.

He said it is sad that some passengers board taxis everywhere claiming there are always queues at the bus stops or are in a hurry thus putting their lives at risk as some taxis ferry passengers illegally and would not know where to find such drivers when they encounter a problem.
