Maseru, Oct. 01 — The Ministry of Health has announced a nationwide immunisation campaign targeting children aged six weeks to five years, scheduled to run from October 20 to 24.
The campaign aims to reach 95 percent of eligible children across the country, offering protection against a wide range of life-threatening diseases.
Vaccines to be administered include amongst others DTP-HepB-Hib which protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b.
Polio vaccine will form part of the vaccines to shield from poliomyelitis, a crippling viral disease. Pneumococcal vaccine, prevents infections such as pneumonia, meningitis, and sepsis caused by pneumococcal bacteria. Rotavirus vaccine to guard against severe diarrhoea and dehydration in infants and young children. . .
