Maseru, Nov. 08 — Newly elected Botswana Advocate Duma Boko has been inaugurated as the sixth president on Friday morning in Gaborone.
Advocate Boko who was sworn into the high office of President of Botswana on Monday morning, following his victory over a 58-year Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) rule was inaugurated with thousands of citizens filling the stadium.
The BDP has ruled Botswana for 58 years until Friday elections when it came out with only four parliamentary seats, while the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) won a majority with 35 seats, with the Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) came out with five seats, and the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) walked with 14 seats.
The UDC is a coalition of three opposition parties named Botswana National Front (BNF) led by Boko, Botswana People’s Party (BPP) and Alliance for Progressives (AP).
