PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS EXTEND A HELPING HAND TO BEREA CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTE 

Berea, April 10 — Early Childhood Care Development (ECCD) teachers from different parts of Berea have visited Teyateyaneng Correctional Institute (TCI) to donate hygiene packages to women inmates on Thursday.

The Pre-school teacher embarked on a march from Taoana square park to Teyateyaneng Correctional Institute with the purpose to celebrate ECCD day under the theme, ‘By listening to children, we can fulfil their rights to self-expression’.

The Department of Education and Training, National Teacher Trainer, Mrs. Blossom Maja, highlighted that this year, they chose to celebrate the annual national ECCD day with women inmates to show them support and create awareness about the importance of children and their rights, particularly the right to education.

Mrs. Maja stated that although they are imprisoned, their children will always need them and they are not left behind, moreover, with the theme for this year which highlights, ‘By listening to children, we can fulfil their rights to self-expression’, adding that children are given a chance to express themselves.
