Maseru, Feb.22—Advocate Qhalehang Lestsika, one of the defence lawyers in the ongoing Mohale Dam Murder Trial, says the police who were investigating the case manipulated records to ensure that the accused were implicated.
This he said during cross-examination of Inspector Nthejane in a trial within trial which is intended to assist the court to establish admissibility of evidence that the accused freely and voluntarily made confessions, pointing out and admissions.
Adv. Letsika stated that detention forms, occurrence books and cell register books have a lot of mistakes. He added that they do not show that the accused appeared before a magistrate to make confessions. He further added that they do not show time at which the accused were taken to court.
