SA HIGH COURT ORDERS MINE SHAFT UNBLOCKING

Maseru, Nov.17 — The High Court of South Africa, Pretoria has ordered that the mine shaft in Stilfontein where thousands of illegal miners are trapped and denied food and water by the South African Police Service (SAPS) be unblocked.

This after the Society For The Protection Of Our Constitution filed an application in the High Court, against Ministers of Co-operative Governance, Police, Health and Mineral Resources as first to fourth respondents respectively.

In the court order, Justice Neukicher has instructed that, pending finalisation of the matter which will be on Tuesday,  the mine shaft in Stilfontein, that forms the subject matter of the application shall be unblocked and may not be blocked by any person or institution whether government or private. . .
