Maseru, Feb.17 — A seven-seater Toyota Noah transporting students to school was involved in a collision with a Honda Fit at the busy Hi-Fi City traffic lights intersection between Mohalalitoe and Maseru East on Tuesday morning.
Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, Sergeant Lerotha from the Maseru Central Charge Office Patrol Unit said the two vehicles collided at the intersection, causing the Toyota Noah to lose control, mount the pavement and subsequently catch fire.
He indicated that emergency responders acted swiftly at the scene and managed to rescue the children from the vehicle before the fire intensified.
Sergeant Lerotha confirmed that no fatalities were reported in the accident, adding that investigations into the cause of the collision are ongoing.
He further urged motorists to exercise caution when approaching intersections, particularly during peak morning hours when traffic volumes are high and many learners are being transported to school.
