Leribe, Jan. 28 — Tiping enters an era of water scarcity due to the water pipes destroyed during the road maintenance which commenced in October 2025.
This was revealed by the community councillor of Tiping during an interview with the Agency on Wednesday.
Mrs. Mamabandla Moketeko said Ha Khojane and Hatabutle used to have normal water supply, but the road maintenance has damaged the water pipes leaving the communities in dire need.
In addition, she said the water flow was monitored through an electrified water system, saying they are waiting for the Rural Water Supply and District Council to work the matter out.
She said the two above-mentioned villages are joining the four villages which are already hit by water scarcity, namely Ha Sebaka, Ha Lesala, Tereshareng and Ha Makepe.
The Community Councillor explained that the four villages have never installed a water system at all and community members have to draw water from Pela Ts’oeu river.
In response to how the water pipe was installed at Pela Ts’oeu river, she said one of the community members installed the pipe as he identified the water source in the river.
However, the community councillor said the pipe serves purpose only when it is dry, saying during rainy days it is covered by the flowing river…
