POLICE TO ATTEND TRAINING IN CHINA

Maseru, Aug. 19 — A contingent of 20 members of the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) is expected to take off on Monday to partake in training in China which is expected to resume in August, 24.

This emerged during an exclusive interview with the Interim Public Relations Officer for the Lesotho Mounted Police Service Senior Superintendent Kabelo Halahala on Saturday.

It is in this interview that Senior Superintendent Halahala explained that the purpose of the training is to equip police officers with skills on how to perfect their every day duties of serving as police officers.

He showed that this is not the first time that officers are being sent to other countries to be equipped with skills that include leadership skills, investigative skills as well as on issues related to terrorism.

He mentioned that a number of countries such as Russia, United States of America as well as Zimbabwe have also given Lesotho opportunities to train its police officers.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Halahala wished the officers well saying he hopes upon their return they will implement the skills they acquired from the training for a better benefit of the Basotho nation.

The training that will take place at Shandong Police College is expected to end in September, 13 and the Police officers are reported to be selected from district level as well from different police stations and different police units.
