Maseru, Feb. 10 — The High Court through Justice Tseliso Mokoko has on Monday ruled that Reli Letuka of Bokong in Thaba-Tseka who is charged with the murder of his 3 year-old son, is fit to stand trial.
The ruling was made after both the defence and the prosecution requested that the accused be taken for psychatric evaluation to determine if he is fit to stand the trial as they suspected that he is mentally unstable. His legal representative Advocate Tsebeletso Motloli even told the court that during consultation, the accused did not seem to appreciate what was going on.
The court conducted an inquiry and asked him about his names, age, occupation and marital status among others. He said his name is Reli Letuka of Bokong in Thaba-Tseka adding that he is 35 years old. He told the court that he is not married.
When asked about the charge he is facing, he said he is accused of murder of his sibling. When asked how he knew he had to come to court today, he said he was given the date when he was before court last year. He added that he informed his chief about the date when he got home and the chief reminded him, hence he managed to be in court today.
