Mokhotlong Aug. 22 — Basotho have been advised to return to the old ways of producing food and feeding themselves in order to remain a healthy nation.
The Principal Secretary (PS) for the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition Mr. Thabo Moleko said this when speaking at the event that was three fold, celebration of August as a Food Month, Women’s month and 200 years Basotho nation was founded by Moshoeshoe I.
Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture, the event that took shape of a market day, culminated into display of various agricultural products ranging from livestock, cereals, fresh, dried and canned food items as well as demonstration on conservation farming to enhance climate smart agriculture was held at Mapholaneng in the district on Thursday.
Mr. Moleko said as the founder of the nation, Moshoeshoe I, was known for loving and living in agriculture, Basotho should follow in his footsteps to produce food and fight against poverty and hunger in their families.
