Maseru, Sept. 02 — Deliberations on change of venue for Friday match between Lesotho and South Africa (SA) are still going on, following a directive from FIFA to Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) to change from the previously appointed Toyota Stadium to Dr. Petrus Molemela.
The Group C match of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers is said to be crucial to both teams and the change of venue could come as an inconvenience to both.
It is reported that FIFA, CAF and LeFA are still in negotiations towards an amicable solution. The sudden change came as a result of the condition of the pitch.
Hugo Broos, SA coach, called it the Bloemfontein saga. “I call it the Bloemfontein saga. We went to see the pitch last week and it was awful, really awful. Such a bad pitch,” he said.
