EX PRISONERS ASSOCIATION STATES EXPECTATIONS ON COMMISSION’S REPORT

MASERU — Ex Prisoners Association has expressed gratitude and hope that the long awaited Commission of Inquiry on the escape of inmates report, which was handed over to the Prime Minister a few days ago will bring about change in correctional institutions.

This was said by Crime Prevention, Rehabilitation and Re-integration of Ex-Offenders Association (CRROA) Executive Director Mr. Nkalimeng Mothobi in an interview with the Agency.

Mr. Mothobi said they believe the report will go a long way in strengthening relations between the inmates and Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) Officers, promote the welfare of both parties, ensure development of Maseru Central Correctional Institution (MCCI) and promote human rights in prison.

“We have not only learnt that officers who were implicated during investigations are desperate to know their fate but have also learnt that the inmates want justice” he added. . .
