GOVERNMENT SPEAKS ON ECONOMIC MELTDOWN

Maseru, May 28 — Lesotho Government Spokesperson says even though the state of financial instability, coupled with unpredictable market fluctuations and unforeseen economic recessions pose challenges, the government’s commitment in supporting the nation remains intact.

Mr. Thabo Sekonyela said this in an interview with the Agency on Tuesday. This with regard to the current state of economic meltdown facing Lesotho and other countries worldwide.

“Poverty is rife, with half the population living below the national poverty line and people facing food insecurity,” the African Economic Outlook (AEO) 2023 has also shown.

Therefore, the Government Spokesperson has highlighted a dire need for government’s intervention, indicating the Minister in the Prime Minister’s office speech on the state of hunger as a major step towards attending to the matter.
